Connecting system components

Note: for notations like ‘F2’ please refer to Overview of system components.

Warning!

  • Strictly follow the instructions below. Proper connection of components and modules must be ensured to avoid the possible electrical hazard and/or damage of system components.
  • This system must be properly earthed while using. Improper grounding may possibly cause electrical shock and/or damage of the components.
  • Earth grounding must be checked and validated by authorised electrician before the first use of the system.

Identification of the cables

a) USB A-B cable for spincube Pump(s)

b) Collector grounding cable

c) spincube Power control cable
a) b)  c)

To provide proper operation of the system four types of connecting actions need to be established:

  1. Connecting spincube power
  2. Connecting protecting grounds (only for models sold before 2024)
  3. Connecting spinsplit IoT box
  4. Connecting to electrical network

Connecting spincube power

  1. Connect Chamber Control Connector (F2) located at spinsplit IoT box together with Chamber Control Connector (F10) located at the spincube power. Use the handscrews on both ends to lock the connectors. Never disconnect this cable while the system is plugged in the mains power.
  2. Plug any end of collector cable to F7 Collector terminal and the other end to D1 Collector terminal.
  3. Push through the high voltage cable of spincube power module of spincube‘s high voltage cable inlet through port D2. Make sure that the cable lies in the energy chain both between the chamber and the power module as well as in the chamber.

Connecting protecting grounds

For systems sold in 2025 or later, skip the below 3 steps!

  1. Connect ground of spincube syringe pump (F17) to spincube power protecting earth terminal (F11).
  2. Connect ground wire of Network Switch module to spincube power protecting earth terminal (F11).
  3. Connect ground wire of spincube chamber to spincube power protecting terminal.

Connecting spinsplit IoT box

  1. Connect USB terminals of USB hub (F23) with USB connector for spincube syringe pumps modules (F18).
  2. Connect USB hub (F23) with spinsplit IoT box using USB.
  3. Connect the LAN connector of spinsplit IoT box (F23) to the Network Switch using CAT5 UTP cable.
  4. Connect the Network Switch to the Local Network (WAN).
  5. Connect the GigE camera LAN connector (F1)
    • For systems with PoE router: connect the camera directly to the Network Switch’s Power over Ethernet (PoE) port using CAT5 UTP cable.
    • For systems with PoE injector: connect the camera to the PoE injector device, and the injector to any downlink port of the Network Switch using CAT5 UTP cable. Caution! refer to the PoE injector’s user manual
    • The camera should indicate its operational condition by flashing its LED in green color 2 times with short pause. Red or no flashing means a faulty connection.

Connecting to electrical network

  1. Connect the power cords of spincube pumps
    • For models sold 2025 or later: plug in the mains cord of spincube pump module(s) to an earthed wall socket.
    • For models sold 2024 or sooner: Connect the AC-DC adapters to spincube syringe pump’s power connector (F19). Plug the wall cord of AC-DC adapters into the adapter and to an earthed wall socket.
  2. Plug the mains cord of the Ethernet Switch to an earthed wall socket.
Caution: To operate this system it is necessary to use a grounded PoE (Power over Ethernet) switch.
  3. Plug in the mains cord of spincube power module’s mains inlet (F9) to an earthed wall socket.
Caution: proper grounding of the spincube power module must be checked by an authorized electrician before the first use. All system components must be connected to the same protecting earth terminal. Spinsplit LLC is not responsible for any system damage or personal injury caused by failing to connect the whole system with all its components to the earthing of the laboratory and ensuring a proper earthing and mains power connection!
