Spincube System Installation Quick Start Guide

This article only applies to Spincube BASE systems sold in 2025 or later. The document intends to guide a remote installation of the system (e.g. the system is NOT installed by Spinsplit personnel).

Unboxing

Hint: make a video of the unboxing process to support any claims on shipping damage or warranty issues!

Tools needed:

    • Wallpaper cutter
    • 3 mm allen key

Spincube BASE systems come in two boxes, one contains the pre-assembled SpinCube Chamber, the other contains the SpinCube Power and one or two SpinCube Pumps with limited set of accessories.

Please handle with care during the entire unpacking process, as there are sensitive and fragile instruments inside that could be damaged if mishandled.

Open the smaller box with UPSIDE marking facing upwards, unpack contents, start eating the Haribo supplied with this pack 😊

  1. You will find the Shipping list and Warranty documents, the Spincube Power and the two Spincube Pumps along with the limited set of accessories.
    • Mind the red high voltage cable at the back of the Spincube Power during unpacking. Remove the plastic bag and the foam panels.
  2. Open the bigger box with UPSIDE marking facing upwards, preferably on a large table or on the floor. Carefully remove:

    • The outer black wrap,

    • Pull upwards the upper half of the hard cardboard shell, cut the duct tape strips on the shell if neccessary,

    • Remove the 2 side cardboard panels and the 4 edge protectors,

    • Leave the lower half of the cardboard shell under the package, just open the sides after cutting the duct tape strips on the edges,

    • Locate the extra 1 cm thick foam panel on one side of the package, remove this first:
    • Carefully remove the air cushion foils surrounding the package. Be sure to leave any components that are protected by the foils undisturbed and intact.

    • Pull the upper foam panel upwards and pay EXTRA attention not to bend or twist the black tubing and the two Hamilton boxes on the top of the unit. Do not open the Hamilton boxes yet. Leave them in place and pay careful attention to them throughout the whole installation. There are pre-filled fragile glass syringes inside!

    • Pull sidepanels away from the SpinCube Chamber (1-6). Mind the glass door and the components on each side:
    • Carefully remove the panel under the Spincube Chamber and place the chamber to its final location. The Spincube Chamber has rubber standoffs, so do not slide the chamber on any surface, reposition only by lifting, otherwise the rubber standoffs may be damaged!

  3. Unbox the two glass HydroDrive syringes, again, be very careful! Slide off the outer paper box then remove the two piece foam casing. Gently place the syringes on the top the chamber.
  4. Place the Spincube Pump(s) (E1) on the top of the Chamber while holding the the unboxed syringes and now secure them in the pumps using the spring clamps (see detailed guide here: “To load a syringe”)
  5. Position the Spincube Power on the left side of the Spincube Chamber, with respect to the safety distances. Feed the red high voltage cable into the chamber through the hole at the back left corner of the chamber.Safety cautions:
    • Make sure to keep the red high voltage cable running between spincube Power and spincube Chamber as short as possible.
    • The operator must make sure that the high voltage cable is undamaged.
    • Mind the minimal bending radius of 5 centimeters for the High Voltage Cable
    • If damage to the cable occurs, use of the appliance must be suspended immediately and Spinsplit must be notified.

The unboxing is complete, you may stop video recording now.

Installing SpinCube Chamber

  1. Find the handwheel ( C1 ) from the smaller box, align the screw with the flattened surface on the crankshaft on the outer right side of the Spincube Chamber. Use a 3 mm allen key (not supplied) to fasten the bolt gently.
  2. Open the glass door and remove the foam panels from the collector, pull upwards the upper one, downwards the lower one.

    • Get familiar all the the main internal components: collector, tower assembly, glass camera protector, FLIR camera with manual optics (zoom, aperture, focus), tubing, glass HydroDrive syringes! The HydroDrive system is pre-filled with hydraulic oil and is ready-to-use. Damage will result in oil leakage.

    • Locate the the handknob (C) behind the top of the collector. Loosen a few turns to free up the collector (A) and try to slide it in-out from the collector holder (B).

  3. Make sure the parking bolt is removed. It is located on the outside of the right side panel of the chamber, above the handwheel:

  4. Once the parking bolt is removed, rotate the handwheel (C1) to move the tower away from the parking position towards to the collector a few centimeters to be able to remove the foam panel around the tower.
  5. Find the “Droplet tray” (G5) from the smaller box and place it on the tower.

Installing SpinCube pump

  1. Never, under any circumstances, pull on the pistons of the HydroDrive syringes. Otherwise the factory filled airtight system could suck air inside.

    • Always use the supplied plastic “manual piston” (E1) to push the inner HydroDrive pistons (inside the chamber) to their fully depressed position before starting dispensing.

    • Before start using HydroDrive, please refer to the detailed guide here
  2. Find the “Pump Droplet Trays” and carefully place them onto the pump housings
  3. Find the USB hub (in its original box) and the two extra USB cables. Open the box and mount the USB hub (F22) at the upper back edge of the SpinCube Chamber, with USB connectors facing upwards.

Connecting components

Follow the instructions of the Knowledge Base, then continue from here

Safety check before first power on

  1. All power cords are connected to an earthed outlet (Spincube Power, each Pumps).

  2. Spincube Power is connected with the Controller Cable to the IoT box and locking screws are tight on both ends.

  3. Collector Grounding Cable is connected between the Spincube Power and the chamber

  4. High Voltage cable is fed into the chamber with a few centimetres clearance from all other cables and components.  The clamp at the end of the High Voltage Cable is fed through the removable “Droplet tray” and is not connected to anything for now.

  5. USB hub is connected to the IoT box and Pumps are connected to the HUB.

  6. LAN cables to the IoT box and to the camera are connected, LEDs are flashing indicating a good network and PoE connection.

  7. Locate the switch on the IoT box next to the LAN/USB connectors, ensure it is switched OFF/0.

  8. Ensure to reset the red EMERGENCY STOP SWITCH (F13) at the top of the Spincube Power

  9. Ensure the collector is fit in place, gently handtigthen the locking bolt. Warning! DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN any of the handscrews on the device.

  10. Close the Chamber door.

  11. Turn ON the Spincube pumps using the mains switch (F20) at the back of each pumps.
  12. Turn ON the Spincube Power using its mains switch at the back of the device (F8). Check the display (B8) of spincube Power for errors.
  13. Once the IoT box has successfully booted, the illumination of the chamber blinks followed by a short beep from the Spincube system. Also, each pump will shortly beep once to indicate they were recognized by the system.

Ready for training

Once the system is operational, and no error conditions are shown by the display, the SpinCube Power shall show the target output voltage and shall react to any adjustments made with the two handknobs at the front face of the device. Do NOT activate the High Voltage system until the operation and safety training is completed.

Now you can turn off the system (two Pumps and Power).

The spincube system must be used by authorized personnel only. Please refer to safety instructions whenever working with the appliance.
