Using Hydrodrive (Electrospinning or electrospraying directly from a syringe)

With Hydrodrive one can dispense the precursor liquid directly from the syringe without using lengthy tubings and therefore creating dead volume. In this mode, the syringe is placed inside of spincube chamber.

Prepare Hydrodrive

To use Hydrodrive, make sure that the external part of Hydrodrive is placed in cubepump as described in section: Change and install syringes.

To initialize Hydrodrive, follow the steps:

1. Move cubepump’s carriage to initial position (section Change and install syringes).
2. Take the manual piston rod E1 (is is normally placed on the internal right side of the chamber) and take out the syringe drive (E2) from its holder.
3. Insert the piston rod E1 into the hollow syringe drive E2 and push back the cylinder (market blue) until you feel resistance (a). Take out piston rod E1 (b).

Hydrodrive assembly

1. Take a syringe of desired volume (1 mL, 3mL, 5mL) and fill with precursor.
2. Place the syringe (a) into the cartridge with piston flange facing inside Hydrodrive. Take a Hydrodrive adapter from Accesories Box of the corresponding volume, and open it by releasing the clamp (c). Insert both Hydrodrive and the syringe into the adapter, making sure that both parts lie tight in the adapter. Close the cartridge (b) and close the clamp (c). 
3. Push the cartridge G4 into the G3 Hydrodrive holder.
4. Connect teflon tubing with the syringe (a) and with the emitter (b).
5. Push emitter until it stops (a). Secure the position of the emitter using the screw (b). Apply the crocodile clip (H1) to the spinneret (c). Make sure that the clip connects to the metal surface.
6. Close the chamber door to start the electrospinning process.
